Hillside farm is an integrated farm for subsistence living where all food items to feed a family is produced on three acres of land. Our agriculture specialties include; crops and vegetables, fish farming, poultry farming, aviary and live stock.

We grow different varieties of crops and vegetables at subsistence and commercial levels. Kerala is blessed with fertile soil and plenty of rain that supports the growth of a variety of plants on our farm.

Aquaculture

Kerala has rich diversity of fishes, both in fresh water and marine systems. More than 200 species of fresh water fish have been reported. We grow different varieties of fishes at commercial level.

They include; Tilapia, Red belled natter, Anabas, Catla. We also breed popular fresh water aquarium fishes like; Angel fish, Oscar, Discus, Neon Tetra, Guppies, Mollies ,Gold fish, Platies , Pearl Gourami , Bettas, Koi carp etc They are available for study, research and purchase.

Aviary for birds is a pastime for many of us. But at Hillside Farm, it is a place to breed some exotic varieties of birds like pigeons, finches, canary, cockatiel and African love birds, Pet lovers like to meet our birds and greet them .

Live stock

The term live stock means animals reared to produce eggs, milk and meat. Food production is the main function of livestock on Hillside Farm. It is also a good source of manure for crop production and nurseries. Ours is a small scale livestock farm and our farm animals are mainly chickens, ducks rabbits, goats and buffalos. We also grow different forage (fodder) crops to feed them.
